I’m very pleased to be able to tell you that yesterday the BBC signed a contract with Xansa for our outsourced finance and accounting services. This contract award was announced on 20th October.
The contract, worth around £85m over 10 years, will save the BBC in excess of £20m per annum over the life time of the contract. This is a major contribution to the BBC’s strategy to minimise the cost of our support services and release more money into our creative output.
During the coming months Xansa will be working with the BBC and Medas to ensure an effective transfer of knowledge to enable Xansa to take over operation of these services from July 2007. Xansa has undertaken to treat all Medas staff with fairness and consideration. I would like to thank everyone at Medas for their continuing professionalism during this time of uncertainty.
I believe this is an excellent outcome for the BBC and represents a great deal for the licence-fee payer.
