Remembrance Day

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lawrence Binyon’s poem "For the Fallen" sums up this day perfectly. Whether or not you agree with this country’s participation in world conflicts, this is the day when we remember those soldiers who have fallen in them.

I hope you’re wearing your poppies, and I hope you’ll observe the silence at 11am.

Oh – and I never realised Lawrence Binyon was born in Lancaster. I went to school there and I’ve have thought they’d have mentioned that.
